Necrotizing infundibular (ostial) crystalline folliculitis

چکیده
Necrotizing infundibular crystalline folliculitis is a rare condition characterized by folliculocentric waxy papules in the seborrheic areas of adult patients, with intrafollicular filamentous birefringent deposits as histopathologic clue. Although real pathogenesis necrotizing remains unclear, material seems to be derived from an interaction between such superficial microorganisms gram-positive bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus spp), Malassezia yeasts, and sebaceous lipids. Topical or systemic antiacne agents antimycotics appear effective therapy.

Necrotizing Infundibular Crystalline Folliculitis: A Case Report of an Exceptional Lesion of Unknown Etiology.
Necrotizing infundibular crystalline folliculitis is a rare follicular lesion of which the etiology is not well understood. Here we describe the case of a 71-year-old male patient presenting with multiple hyperkeratotic lesions localized on the forehead. Histopathological analysis of one of the lesions revealed a follicular invagination containing cellular debris and keratin lamellae containing...

Although the usual clinical features of the varicella zoster virus (VZV)-induced lesions are readily recognized, the same virus is also responsible for a series of atypical lesions. A patient is presented with a single large infiltrated plaque on the abdomen. Although histology showed a necrotizing folliculitis surrounded by a dense perifollicular inflammatory infiltrate, the clinical presentat...
متن کاملErosive Pustular Dermatosis of the Scalp with Urate-Like Crystals
Follicular urate-like crystals were first described in Necrotizing Infundibular Crystalline Folliculitis (NICF), a rare cutaneous disorder with multiple waxy folliculocentric papules. Similar crystal accumulation may be seen within follicular infundibulae as an incidental finding. We describe a case showing identical crystals occurring within the horn-like crusts of a patient with erosive pustu...
